The story behind
In 2014, a group of individuals living with narcolepsy and clinically diagnosed insomnia, along with their families and friends, came together to form Narcolepsy Awareness in Kenya. Today, this initiative has grown into the Narcolepsy Africa Foundation (NAF).
NAF is a patient led organization comprising of patients, parents and caregivers of persons diagnosed with narcolepsy and various sleep disorders in Kenya and across Africa
Through online campaigns and advocacy, we’ve connected with patients and communities from other African countries, including Rwanda, Uganda, Nigeria, and Burundi.

Collaboration
As narcolepsy is both a rare disease and a non-communicable disease (NCD), we collaborate with Rare Diseases Kenya and the NCD Alliance to strengthen cross-awareness efforts. These organizations advocate for better healthcare access, research, and support for individuals living with NCDs and rare conditions. Together, we amplify our impact by sharing resources, expertise, and awareness campaigns.
Support Group
Our support group welcomes individuals living with narcolepsy and other sleep disorders, their families, friends, and anyone interested in learning about the condition. Registration is free for persons with narcolepsy, and we have an active WhatsApp support group to provide connection and guidance.
