The Caregiver’s Wellness Fair

The Caregiver’s Wellness Fair was held from November 21st–23rd, 2024, at Parkland’s Baptist Church. The event focused on supporting caregivers with resources for mental health and wellness. Our team represented people living with narcolepsy to raise awareness about the condition and offer support to any other persons who might know of or they might have the condition unknowingly.

Our goal was to educate attendees about narcolepsy, provide caregivers with helpful resources, and increase awareness about the challenges people with narcolepsy face in daily life. Being a rare disease were also seeking to meet more members who needed help.

We set up a booth where we issued informational pamphlets. We engaged in one-on-one conversations with caregivers and healthcare professionals, offering insights and answering questions about managing narcolepsy. We also had a few minutes to interact with them as a group just to give a brief overview of what and who we are.

The event was a success in raising awareness. We distributed several pamphlets and had several in-depth conversations with caregivers who expressed gratitude for the information.

Attendees were especially interested in the practical tips for managing narcolepsy. Our team was able to share personal stories and real-life strategies that resonated with the patients creating lasting interest in the condition.

Several attendees expressed a desire to learn more about how they could assist individuals living with narcolepsy. Many caregivers requested additional information on resources and local support groups. Others suggested that we should keep having forums to educate people, especially among school-related setups

At the end of the event, interested attendees wanted our newsletter to receive ongoing updates about narcolepsy awareness, and several individuals requested follow-up consultations with our team to learn more about managing the condition
